Standard
ASTM A312: Standard Specification for Seamless, Welded, and Heavily Cold Worked Austenitic Stainless Steel Pipes
ASTM A213: Standard Specification for Seamless Ferritic and Austenitic Alloy-Steel Boiler, Superheater, and Heat-Exchanger Tubes
254 SMO is an austenitic stainless steel, whose chemical base consists of high amounts of molybdenum, chromium as well as nickel. Under some circumstances, the UNS S31254 SMO Seamless Pipe is considered to be a highly economical, yet commercially viable solution to applications that are prone to corrosion. In fact, the corrosion resistance properties of 250 SMO pipe is compared to nickel alloys.
It demonstrates outstanding resistance to pitting, crevice corrosion stress cracking, and corrosion fatigue uniform corrosion. 254 SMO is substantially stronger than the common austenitic grades, with strength nearly twice that of 300 series stainless steel. It is also characterized by high ductility and impact strength.
